Stuyvesant High School has been a symbol of excellence in education for over a century. We honor this commitment by providing an environment that will nurture and elevate the special academic talents of our student body. While Stuyvesant is deeply rooted in the tradition of science, mathematics, and technology, which remains a cornerstone of our educational program and success, the overall mission of our institution is to instill the intellectual, moral, and humanistic values necessary for each young adult to achieve their maximum potential as a student and as a caring citizen of the world.
Stuyvesant High School is a highly diverse community of cultures, languages, and countries of origin. Our diversity is our strength and we are committed to cultivating an inclusive environment, where every member of our school community is recognized and feels relevant. We continue to create the conditions for intellectual and social development for all members and the various identities (gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and religion) they bring to our community. Everyone should feel safe and respected, and we strive to facilitate opportunities
for meaningful experiences rooted in openness and empathy. Finally, we strive in our continuous improvement of our policies, practices, and pedagogy to create an educational environment that is non-discriminatory and anti-racist.

17 Nov, 2010If your child is lucky enough to get in - send them. It's a great location and the education is top-notch. I got in, but didn't end up going. I stayed at Trinity - great education, but a huge price tag for my parents.

12 Oct, 2013The people at Stuyvesant are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Yes, they give a lot of homework. However, the homework is one thing that brings the students together. The teachers love what they do, and they're really interesting. There are so many clubs!

17 Mar, 2017Stuyvesant High School class of '79. The years I spent there were really amazing, and seem to get more so with each passing year. If you are a motivated student, there is no limit to what you can achieve here. A middle of the road student can get a great education - middle of the road for Stuyvesant is pretty much at the top of the class for most the schools. If you can get in, take advantage of it.

29 Nov, 2017I'm an alumna. I think of gaining acceptance into Stuy as one of my most significant achievements. The standards and academic competition are such as to bring out the best in us. The result of our time in Stuy is the finest preparation for college achievement and, for that matter, for highest caliber life achievement. You are inspired and personally challenged, life long, to complete whatever projects you start with impeccable greater-than-expected end results. Congrats to students and faculty.

17 Jan, 2016Challenging, intense and completely worth it. Take it from someone who went there. Just try your best while you're there and don't stress. You'll be surrounded by a ton of smart people so make to most of it and contribute; there are plenty of things to do there. Trust me... get involved, stay for things after school, and take challenging classes (don't take the bare min, even though that's more than other schools). Do that and college will be a breeze.
