Via Carota is the West Village osteria of celebrated downtown chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams. Renowned for its simple, seasonal menu, Via Carota serves Italian food reminiscent of home in a spirit of relaxed care and warmth.
Inspired by the 17th-century villa in the hills near Florence which Sodi once called home, Via Carota honors old-world Italian roots, lifestyle, and culinary traditions. The interior features heirloom keepsakes collected over the years by the chefs. Outside, the terrazza offers a place to enjoy good weather on beautiful, tree-lined Grove Street.

27 Nov, 2024Very scenic atmosphere, even though a little crowded inside. While the Italian style Steak was excellent (better than many I had in Rome or Milano) the starters were not that good. Fennel and spinach both very heavy. Too much fat and at the same time, not a lot of taste

17 Nov, 2024The food was super tasty, and everything we tried felt really fresh and authentic. Amazing appetizers, we loved the salad, it came in a very generous portion and was extremely fresh! The pasta was spot-on, and the sauces were full of flavor. The staff was really friendly and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Definitely one of the best Italian spots I've been to in New York. Highly recommend!

23 Oct, 2024Come on… THEIR STUFF IS AMAZING!!! Codfish was spectacular. A lot of olive oil on it just the way it needs to be done. Dessert was also divine. 2 things to be improved but I’ll still leave the 5 stars: 1- Restroom line. Line to go to the restroom in a restaurant like that makes no sense. 2- They served me a whole grain or a wheat-kind-of bread and it was cold to room temperature. Next time ask the customer because I’ll rather have a warm white bread.

11 Nov, 2024Ambiance and food here is great. The menu offers a wide range of options for whatever style of meal you feel like having. Desserts here might even be their strongest options - the chocolate hazelnut semifreddo was excellent. Service is also very good and prices are reasonable for New York.

14 Jul, 2024Absolutely loved my experience here! They were able to seat my very quickly and I did not have a reservation. It was a little packed but they made it work. The drinks were so good and the pasta was delicious. The tiramisu was 10/10. My new favorite restaurant!
